My Citizenship Journey

Can I change my name on the green card?

I made a mistake of using my maiden name when I applied for a passport after our wedding in Bangkok in 2012 so my visa and green card and other documents such as SSN, Driver’s license, Health Insurance card, bank accounts, credit cards, etc were all in my maiden name.

I have read though that I can change my last name to my husband’s last name upon application for citizenship so I tried. I used my husband’s last name in the application forms.

And yes, the letter from USCIS last week already used my husband’s last name as my last name!

If this goes through, God willing, I will have to change all the other cards I have. But that will come later when I have my citizenship all completed. Prayers and prayers needed.
