As ladies, we have the responsibility to help and protect our brothers from falling into sin.
“How sweet it is to see a woman who has decided not to flaunt her body like the culture wants her to do but rather she has decided that serving the Lord and her brothers is more important. Glory to God for women like that!”
“Let us be a church of men committed to purity and women committed to modesty.”

Let us stop for at least 8 minutes and hear how we can help and serve our brothers in Christ and radiate real beauty that comes from God.
I’ve grown up with three older brothers and was always “one of the boys” throughout gradeschool and highschool. I even used to borrow Keith’s, my brother who’s just a year and a half older than me, shirts and baggy pants. Yes. Can you imagine me wearing his clothes? haha. I was really tomboyish back then. I was not a fan of dresses and skirts growing up as I find it uncomfortable and I just end up scratching here and there. Then, I went to college. I moved to Manila from Davao and suddenly found myself wearing short shorts and skirts on an every day basis. Well I thought, there was nothing wrong wearing those. But as I grew in my relationship with God, the desire of wanting to serve Him and express it outwardly got stronger. I learned, there are proper occasions and places when and where to use/wear them e.g. going to the beach — ofcourse you can’t wear a pair of jeans when you go swimming! Haha. So instead of asking myself, “What should I wear that would make me look pretty today or would make me stand out?” I started to ask myself, “What should I wear that would honor God?”. I realized that I didn’t want people to notice me because I dress pretty or something, I hope people will talk to me because they truly want to get to know me and have me as their friend. I hope people will want to know me for who I am and not because of what I wear.
This does not mean that we can go out looking awful with tornado-struck hair, looking losyang or something. That in itself also does not represent a life with God. What it means is for us to shine the real beauty that can not be measured on how much skin we can show off or how beautiful our clothes are. We are called to radiate the eternal beauty that comes from God alone. So how do we dress?
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved,
clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
– (Colossians 3:12)

This is from my friend’s awesome and inspiring blog — Believing the Unbelievable (Adele)

It does not matter what you wear, what matters is what’s truly in your heart because what’s inside you will overflow through your speech and actions. That will tell the people around you how beautiful you are!

  1. What a great post. Just getting ready to watch the video now. I too didn't really understand modesty according to the Bible until my last year in university working alongside a wiser fashionista who dressed pretty, but always covered up for the cause. I really hope this post opens someone's eyes today!
